Accessibility Audit for EAA & WCAG Compliance

The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025. If your website, app or e-commerce platform falls in scope and isn’t conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA, you are already exposed. A Conflux accessibility audit tells you exactly where you stand and what to fix first.

The European Accessibility

is now enforceable — and the risk is real

The European Accessibility Act — Directive (EU) 2019/882 — applies across the EU from June 28, 2025. It is not a guideline. It is law, transposed into the national legislation of every EU Member State, with designated authorities empowered to monitor compliance, investigate complaints, and enforce penalties.

The Act establishes accessibility requirements for products and services placed on the EU market. In practice, for most companies, this means digital services: websites, mobile apps, e-commerce, online banking, ticketing, e-books, and customer-facing platforms must be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for people with disabilities. The technical benchmark recognized for meeting these requirements is the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.

Why invest in accessibility?

  • e-commerce and online retail
  • banking, payments, and financial services
  • transport and ticketing (booking and information for flights, trains, buses, and ferries)
  • telecommunications and electronic communications
  • audiovisual media and streaming services
  • e-books and digital publishing
  • self-service terminals (ATMs, automated ticketing machines, check-in kiosks)

Non-conformance is not a theoretical risk. Enforcement bodies can require corrective action, suspend a non-compliant service from the market, and apply penalties set by each member state. Beyond the legal exposure, an inaccessible site quietly turns away customers: roughly one in four adults in Europe lives with some form of disability, and inaccessible checkout flows, forms and navigation cost real revenue every day.

What's Included

What a Conflux accessibility audit delivers

Every audit produces four deliverables designed to serve two audiences simultaneously: the developers who fix the issues and the decision-makers who manage the legal and business risk.

WCAG 2.2 AA compliance report. A formal, criterion-by-criterion assessment of your site or app against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 level AA. For every success criterion, we record a clear compliance status—pass, fail, or not applicable—along with supporting evidence. This is the document that demonstrates where you stand against the benchmark recognized by the EAA.

Prioritized issue list. Every identified defect, categorized by severity and user impact—not an undifferentiated list generated by an automated scanner. Each issue is linked to the specific WCAG criterion it violates, the pages or components involved, and a plain-language explanation of who is blocked and why.

Action plan. A sequential roadmap that turns your list of issues into actionable tasks for your team: starting with quick wins, followed by logically grouped structural improvements, with effort estimates for each. Designed so a product owner can plan a sprint and a developer can get to work immediately.

Legal compliance statement. A clear summary of your current compliance status, written for a non-technical audience, suitable as a foundation for the accessibility statement required by the EAA and for discussions with legal, compliance, and management teams.

Automated tests find the obvious. We find what they miss

Automated accessibility scanners only catch a portion of WCAG violations—typically about

a third. The rest—keyboard traps, illogical focus order, unclear link purposes, missing context,

content that breaks under magnification, nonsensical screen reader announcements—can be

only identified by a person testing the site the way people with disabilities actually use the web.

Conflux combines both approaches.

01.

Automated baseline

We run industry-standard tools across your entire site to map automatically detectable issues at scale and quickly establish a baseline.

02.

Manual testing with real assistive technologies

Our specialists navigate your core journeys using real assistive technologies—screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, and reduced motion settings—replicating how people with visual, motor, cognitive, and auditory disabilities experience your product. This is where the most critical issues emerge.

03.

Agentic tools for coverage and consistency

We use our proprietary agentic design tools to extend coverage across large-scale sites—systematically traversing templates, states, and components—to ensure broad coverage and consistent results, while expert human judgment determines the meaning of each finding and how to prioritize it.

The result is an audit grounded in academic rigor and real-world usage — not a one-click score, but an honest picture of how your product performs for every user.

What you get from an accessibility audit

Compliance is the trigger. The return goes far beyond that.

Demonstrable EAA and WCAG compliance A documented conformance position against WCAG 2.2 AA — the evidence you need to show regulators, partners, and procurement teams that you take the European Accessibility Act seriously.

Reduced legal and reputational risk A clear remediation path closes the gap between where you are and where the law expects you to be, before a complaint or enforcement action forces the issue on someone else’s timeline.

A better experience for everyone Accessible design is good design. Clearer navigation, readable content, robust forms, and improved keyboard support enhance usability for all users — and tend to strengthen SEO and Core Web Vitals as a side effect.

A larger potential market Approximately 100 million people in the EU live with a disability. An accessible product is a product they can actually buy from — turning a compliance cost into reachable demand.

Why Conflux

Conflux is a digital experience studio built on two foundations: academic rigour and agentic design. We don’t treat accessibility as a box to tick at the end of a project — it is a discipline we practice as part of our established digital accessibility service.

Academic rigour

means our audits are methodical and defensible: tested against the published success criteria of WCAG 2.2 AA, documented criterion by criterion, and explained in language that holds up before both your developers and your legal team.

Agentic design

means we build and use intelligent tools to extend the depth and consistency of our testing on large, complex sites—coverage that manual review alone would struggle to achieve—while expert judgment remains in control of interpretation and prioritization.

It’s all about the combination: tools for breadth, human expertise for meaning. That is how Conflux delivers an audit you can act on with confidence.
